Founded in the early 2000's, engineer and scientist Hatsuki Yamamoto leaves corporate science to achieve his dream of developing life-like robots. Yamamoto Industries quickly becomes a world renowned technology and robotics lab.
Leaked photos of the droid prototype are released in the Tokyo daily press, catching Yamamoto Industries off guard and forcing them to move into secrecy. Hatsuki disbands his lab and disappears from society and the science community at large.
Unbeknownst to the world, equipment from the lab was loaded into semi-trucks, and moved beneath the city streets of Okachimachi, Tokyo's largest jewelry shopping district. Hatsuki Yamamato changes the name of his lab to "Daiya Industries", reflective of the diamonds sold in the streets above his lab.
Forged in the sewers beneath Tokyo's hustle and bustle, Daiya Industries begins serious work on bringing the dream of human-robot droids to reality. Hatsuki names these creatures "Daiya Droids", and continues to arduously work in his new high-tech facility, cloaked in secrecy.
WE HAVE LIFE. The droids gain consciousness for the first time, validating Hatsuki's suspicions that the impossible could be achieved. Preliminary tests are conducted to stress the operating system of the robots, and they perform better than expected. The droids quickly realize where they are, and begin plans to see what the real world is like.
A small group of droids wait for Hatsuki to leave one night, and open the door connecting the lab to the sewers. After a few hours of trudging through dingy corridors, the droids see light from above, and crawl out of the sewers for the first time...
